Drum Circle & Belly Dance Hafla Thurs at Midwest Mayhem 5/15

Drum Circle & Belly Dance Hafla Thursday at Midwest Mayhem 5/15 (STL. MO)

Drum circles & dancing in between the stage music sets outdoors by the entrance, near the fire pit. Some chairs provided. Plenty of congas, djembes, bongos, & doumbek drums for you to try out. Bellydance wrap skirts & zils also. Times may flex so try to get there when you can. 6:30 - 7pm, 8pm - 8:30, & 9:15 - 10pm

There are 18 bands to check out, then cruise by the drum circle & jam out. The event is free to supporters of KDHX (a wonderful radio station.) Admission to Midwest Mayhem is $20. I know that’s a lot to ask, I have a problem paying it myself. But it’s for a good cause, & we will have a great time drumming in such a cool spot. It is a one time thing to get to play there. No doubt, it is going to be fun.

Something I miss about drumming at The Loop when it was forced to stop, was the sense of community & how the public would wander up & join in with us. The interaction with people & seeing them experiencing a drum circle for the first time. You could hand a maraca & tambourine to families - they would join in & within minutes, you could see the joy light up in their eyes as they made music & played with us. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for a few hours!

So, if even if it’s only for one day, here’s a chance for us to drum in a beautiful spot, interact with the public again, have a good time, make some drum circle music & help benefit KDHX.

With 18 bands, there’s going to be a lot of industry people there. There’s always that chance that a few of them might actually LIKE us, & we can possibly work out a weekly venue. That would be especially nice during the winter months.

I hope you can come out & help support what we are trying to do this week. It would be much appreciated.
The City Museum location is 750 N. 16th Street, St. Louis 63103
